Illinois Sen. Barack Obama claimed an historic victory in Iowa's Democratic caucuses Thursday, opening the 2008 presidential nominating campaign by convincingly beating the party's national poll leader, Hillary Clinton, and onetime Iowa favorite John Edwards.
