Watch week 4 of the BLACK-IN marathon fundraiser, featuring other Black journalists in the industry
On Thursday, July 2, 2026, Black Headline News launched the "BLACK-IN" campaign in conjunction with the July Fourth holiday weekend to education viewers about the challenges the Black press goes through, and to urge people to support Black media. The forums, led by award-winning news publishers, Cheryl Smith of Texas Metro News, Julia Ann Dudley Najieb of ONME News, and Brigitte Jones of The Bay Area Review addressed issues, challenges and history concerning the Black press over a four-week period.
In the final "BLACK-IN" fundraiser show which aired live on Thursday, July 23, the news publisher hosts reviewed Black press discussions centered around present issues in minimum advertising dollars, limited staffing and the minimal support in general. Special guest, professional journalist, Dr. Dareia Tolbert Jacobs of Texas shared her experience in the industry under the current political climate, along with the challenges and upsides in faith-based reporting.
Viewers, listeners, and readers can still give donation at any time; donations are tax deductible through fiscal agent nonprofit, The California Media and Arts Collective, Inc., the live fundraiser calls for a support of Black media, asking businesses, organizations, and individuals, who would like to financially support, to donate,
There are also ways to continue to support Black media at no cost: subscribe to their media outlets, pick up a newspaper and pass it to others, watch a news broadcast and comment, listen to a radio broadcast and comment, visit their websites and read/watch some of their news stories, or be of service.
